Nd Yag lasers are capable of transmitting ultrahigh energy in an instant swelling the pigment granules in the target tissue to the point where they break apart and dissipate. Using this technology, some pigment granules in shallow-layer skin will be destroyed, the remnants will decompose into tiny particles that will be swallowed by macrophages in the body, and through the process of digestion, excreted from the body through the lymphatic system.
Due to the fact that lasers of certain wavelengths can reach the pigment in the tissue directly through the cuticular layer and dermis layer, it only takes effect on pigment granules and there is little damage to the skin.
