Nd Yag laser is a solid-state laser that makes use of a Nd Yag crystal as its laser medium to emit a longer wavelength laser that can deeply penetrate tissues. Its ultra-high power laser will cause thermal damage to target cells when the chromophores absorb the energy, expand rapidly, and burst. These dead cells will then be swept away by macrophages and excreted out of the body by the lymphatic system.
Specific wavelengths of the Nd Yag laser penetrate deep into the skin and are easily absorbed by hemoglobin and melanin, so the Nd Yag laser will not break and damage the skin during treatment.
A number of effective chromophores have been identified at each wavelength, for example 532nm wavelength is suitable for removing freckles and couperose skin, 755nm wavelength is suitable for removing blue tattoo pigment, while 1320nm wavelength is suitable for skin whitening and skin rejuvenation.
